The shining star in constellation represent the size of territory of the state in the Brazilian region (constellation). The flag of Brazil contains 27 stars, representing the Brazilian states and the Federal District. The constellation of the Southern Cross is on the meridian (indicated by the number 6 in the diagram).

On top is a blue circle with 27 small white five-pointed stars along with a white band that says ORDEM E PROGRESSO in green. Each star represents a city state of Brazil. The most recent version of the Brazilian flag was adopted on May 11, 1992.
The date was November 15, 1889 and the stars on the flag were designed in honor of the night sky over the city of Rio de Janeiro on that date. There are 27 stars in all. The stars beneath the white banner stand for each of the 26 Brazilian states. The single star above the white banner represents the Federal District.
The Brazilian flag is bright green with a yellow diamond in the center filled with a blue globe. Within the blue globe are some stars – 27 to be exact – and a white banner with the country’s slogan: Ordem e Progresso, which means Order and Progress. The flag that represents Brazil today used to be different during the Brazilian Empire.
American Flag. The flag of the United States has the most stars of any national flag in the world. It consists of 13 horizontal white and red stripes, with a blue canton bearing fifty five-pointed white stars in nine rows. Each star represents a US state, while the stripes represent the original 13 colonies.
Brazil’s National Flag. In fact, because six new states were added to the country, the flag had to be revised and the new 27-star flag was released in 1992.
