One of the main industries that benefitted from the Industrial Revolution was the textile industry. The textile industry was based on the development of cloth and clothing. There were many prominent inventions for the textile industry created during the Industrial Revolution, of which the flying shuttle was one.
Disadvantages of the Flying Shuttle Also, the shuttle could fly out of the machine at great speed, and the factories where flying shuttles were used began to become dangerous places with accidents such as eye injuries. Eventually the flying shuttle was replaced by machines that injected the weft using other means.
It is a mechanical device used for weaving moved by means of ropes and pullies. It places the horizontal threads (called the weft) into the verticle ? threads (called the warp). The invention of the fly shuttle made it possible for weavers to operate large looms and weave wide pieces of cloth.
The speed of the Flying Shuttle factory loom drove the invention of machine spinning, which in turn created a huge demand for cotton.
Answer: The flying shuttle was one of the key developments in the industrialization of weaving during the early Industrial Revolution. It allowed a single weaver to weave much wider fabrics, and it could be mechanized, allowing for automatic machine looms. The flying shuttle, which was patented by John Kay (1704–c.

The main advantage of Hargreaves’ Spinning Jenny was that it could spin several threads at once. One of the disadvantages of Hargreaves’ machine was that it was more expensive than the traditional spinning-wheel. In the long-term the Spinning-Jenny also resulted in some spinners becoming unemployed.
Kay mounted his shuttle on wheels in a track and used paddles to shoot the shuttle from side to side when the weaver jerked a cord. Using the flying shuttle, one weaver could weave fabrics of any width more quickly than two could before.

Flying shuttle, Machine that represented an important step toward automatic weaving. It was invented by John Kay in 1733. In previous looms, the shuttle was thrown, or passed, through the threads by hand, and wide fabrics required two weavers seated side by side passing the shuttle between them.
Advantages: The flying shuttle let weavers make cloth a lot faster than the normal tedious methods of hand making cloth It also let weavers make a wider piece of cloth Disadvantages: People were jealous of the idea and threatened the inventor, John Kay by trashing his house replaced weavers risking unemployment (but only slightly)
The Flying Shuttle. The flying shuttle was an improvement to looms that enabled weavers to weave faster. The original shuttle contained a bobbin on to which the weft (weaving term for the crossways yarn) yarn was wound. It was normally pushed from one side of the warp (weaving term for the series of yarns that extended lengthways in a loom)…

2. It is suitable for smaller lot of fabric 3. As loom operate at less speed, warp preparation is not demanding 4. Quality demand of yarn (warp and weft ) is less 5. The capital investment is less 6. Required very less amount of climate control. 7. There is no need for separate Selvedge mechanism.
