The rain forest in Central Africa receives the most precipitation, as rain falls throughout the year. Most of the rest of Africa, however, has one or two rainy seasons. Africa’s tropical savanna stretches through the middle of the continent. The closer an area is to the desert, the longer the dry season.
The most famous savannas are in Africa. Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania, has three distinct types of savanna grassland: long grass, intermediate grass, and short grass.

a) Strand and Mangrove: This vegetation can be found along the coast or lagoons where the soil is salty and water-logged for most of the year. The vegetation in these areas consist of creeping plants, mangrove trees and grass. Mangrove trees reach heights of 10 to 15 metres high. Raffia for weaving baskets are common here.
