Located in the southwestern part of Virginia is Mount Rogers, the state’s highest point, which rises to an elevation of 5,729ft (1,746m). The 150-mile-long Shenandoah Valley is nestled between the Blue Ridge and the Allegheny Mountains and has been one of the most productive agricultural areas of the state.
Virginia is bordered by the states of North Carolina in the south; by Tennessee in the southwest; by Kentucky in the west; by West Virginia in the northwest and by Maryland and Washington D.C. in the northeast.
