Mountains of Southwest USA. California’s most spectacular and well-known mountain range is the Sierra Nevada, stretching 400 miles from the southern foothills at the edge of the Mojave Desert to its northern end at the Susan River near Quincy, where it merges with the more isolated peaks of the Cascade Range.

Flagstaff is located near the center of Northern Arizona at the juncture of Interstate 17 and Interstate 40, about 150 miles north of Phoenix, AZ and 80 miles south of the Grand Canyon. Elevation of San Francisco Peaks: Humphreys Peak is the highest point in Arizona at 12,633 feet (3,851 meters).

Doyle Peak also belongs to the San Francisco Peaks range. 5. Mount Baldy . The 11,403 ft tall Mount Baldy is the fifth highest mountain in Arizona. The mountain is located in Apache County and is part of the White Mountains range.
Some of the more prominent peaks include Carter Mountain, Fan Mountain, Brush Mountain, Peters Mountain, Walton’s Mountain, and Hightop Mountain. The Southwest Mountains are not particularly large.
Mount Everest (or Sagarmatha in local language) which is the highest peak of the world (height 8848 m) comes in this range. The other important peaks of this range are Kanchenjunga (8598 m), Makalu (8481 m) and Dhailagiri (8172 m).
West Texas also has many smaller ranges such as the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park, Davis Mountains and Franklin Mountains.
