3-5 feet
The depth and length of the swimming pool should be 5 feet and 25 feet if you want to have swim laps in it. Most people are satisfied with the standard depths of 3-5 feet in a pool with multiple depths but it cannot be a right decision if you and your spouse’s height are not suitable to those pool depths.
Therefore, multiply the number of inches in your measurements by 0.0833 to get the appropriate percentage of one foot. If the shallow end is 3 feet and the deep end is 9 feet, and assuming the slope of the pool bottom is gradual and even, then the average depth is 6 feet. Average depth = ( 3 + 9 ) / 2 = 6 feet.
Most “fun” pools should have a minimum depth of three feet to accommodate for both adults and children, and a maximum depth of four to five feet, for safety. Swimmers who swim laps seriously should look for a minimum depth of five feet, and a length of 25 meters.
A 24 foot above ground pool will comfortably fit 4-5 average size adults to swim, float and play. There are approximately 12,974 gallons in a 52″ above ground pool and requires approximately 3 to 3-1/2 cubic yards of sifted(playground) sand to create a 2″ layer under the liner and sand cove.
7.5 to 9 feet
What is the Minimum Depth? To qualify for a diving board installation, your pool has to have a diving well that meets a certain depth. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) have set the standard diving well depth of 7.5 to 9 feet, depending on your exact configuration.
For a family of 8 people, a pool size of 18 by 36 feet is adequate. Even if you all decide to swim at the same time, there will be enough space for everyone. A rectangular shape is the best choice for this size of the pool. If there are six or less in your family, a pool size of 16 by 32 feet will be sufficient.
If you have several objects that have a depth, then you can calculate the average depth. The average depth looks at how deep all the objects are when considered together. The formula for average is the sum of all the depths divided by the number of depths you have.
10 feet
When deciding on the pool depth, diving is among the crucial factors. For the divers, the pool shouldn’t be less than 10 feet deep.
What is the deepest above ground pool? The deepest above ground pool has a 54-inch wall. However, since above ground pools are not filled to their 100% capacity, it is safe to assume that the deepest an above ground pool can be is about 48 inches or 4 feet.
With a perfectly square or rectangular pool that is a consistent depth at every point, the calculation can be formulated as “S x D = V,” where S represents the surface area and D represent depth. So a pool that has a surface area of 1,200 square feet and is 6 feet deep holds 7,200 cubic feet of water.
Fun pools that accommodate kids and adults should have a minimum depth of 3 feet and 4 – 5 feet maximum. The length and depth of the pool should be 25 feet and 5 feet, respectively.
So depending on the depth of pool you choose, set in place rules—i.e., no diving and no children or inexperienced swimmers allowed in the pool without adult supervision. If you are not installing a diving pool, consider the safe depth of 3 feet (1 metre) in the shallow end to 6 feet (1.8 metres) in the deep end.
Rectangular or Square Pool. So a pool that has a surface area of 1,200 square feet and is 6 feet deep holds 7,200 cubic feet of water. To convert to gallons, multiply this number by 7.48. In this example, a pool with 7,200 cubic feet of water holds 53,856 gallons.
