The primary purpose of narrative writing is to describe an experience, event, or sequence of events in the form of a story, whether real or imagined. Here is the third grade Narrative Writing Rubric, which will be used to form classroom instruction and assess student writing.
Third graders can write an essay with a simple thesis statement, examples and supporting details, and a thoughtful concluding sentence. They are building skills in the writing process research, planning, organizing, revising, and editing (with help from teachers and peers).
Its three elements or “parts” are exposition, or background information, followed by complication, the events of the narrative, and resolution, the story’s end.
A plot diagram is a tool that is commonly used to organize a story into certain segments. The falling action is the events that happen after the climax that lead to a resolution or ending to the story. The resolution is the outcome of the story. It is how things end up or turn out for the characters.
Explain to the class that the plot line of this movie has six parts, namely the 1) exposition, 2) conflict, 3) rising action, 4) climax, 5) falling action, and 6) resolution.
