A netball team consists of 7 players in different positions. No more than 7 players from a team may be on court at a time, and at least 5 players must be on court for play to commence with at least one of the players being C. Games are played in 4 equal quarters of 8 minutes with a 1 min break between each quarter.

Netball rules do not permit players to let their landing foot touch the ground again if it is lifted at all while in possession of the ball, so players can take 1.5 steps while holding the ball. A player may tap or deflect the ball, let it bounce and then take possession and throw it.
Scoring goals The job of the goal defence and goal keeper is to block the goal attack and goal shooter from shooting; however, they must be three feet or more away from the landing foot of the shooter, otherwise it is called an obstruction.

When a netball player receives a pass they are not allowed to run with the ball or dribble with it. To gain control of the ball, a player can bat or bounce the ball once, but they cannot bat and bounce the ball, or do either more than once.

Selecting nine players in all teams could mean that losing a player in a higher team means every team below is affected. Lose a player from the 1s and a player from the 2s and there’s a good chance your 3s, 4s, 5s and so on will now have to give up TWO players each, to cover those holes in the teams above them.
